Today they ship a third truck. That is 3 semi trucks of horses in three days to the Mexico. That is over 100 horses that have lost their lives in 2.5 days. I have NEVER in all the years I have been rescuing had to endure watching this that many times. My heart, my mind, my soul is literally crushing. They always say youre doing the best that you can, your doing the best that you can, but as I watch them load the horses who could have had a chance, AM I?
Today is the third truck. There are 5 more Belgian work (draft) horses, plus around 25 regular size horses that will be on it. I am going to fundraise as hard as I can and using every avenue I know but I need your help. I need a miracle. Several of the horses loading today are not very handleable and will require training. It is either that or they are terrified, but I am leaning towards the not handleable aspect. They quite literally were wanting to fly over the rails of the chute system when they were being tagged like they had never been touched before by humans. I can only imagine how terrifying the whole process was for them.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP: The obvious is donating. Donating is quite literally the way to save them. Sharing the REELS and the posts on your Instagram and Facebook platforms with the donate button. You never know who will see your post and want to donate to help, even $5 goes a long way when it adds up from hundreds of people wanting to help. Dont ever doubt your ability to make a difference.
Creating your own post to post. Messaging me for our REELS to share as your own but to also send out to others VIA Instagram and Facebook messenger. Spreading awareness is also how you educate which is how you create change.
I have atleast 3 on my list for today to focus on and if more funds come in I promise I will do more, but I can only do what we collectively come together to do.
Percy, Haley and Nixon go to Outlaw vet this morning around 10am. I will make sure to give everyone updates. I am mentally praying to God that Nixon is going to be okay. I am going to be devistated if it is not an abscess.
The brown mare with the smashed in face also had her tracheotomy which will allow her to breathe and wow what a difference it made IMMEDIATELY. She has probably been panicking internally scared as to why she cannot breathe for so long. The people who owned her reached out to me and said that a horse kicked her in the face which coincides with what the vet said. They said that they tried everything but they didnt have the financial means to help her so they sold her at a low end auction in Texas which led her to the Kill Pen. They sent me photos and videos of them riding her all over the place, she is SO gentle and kind. It makes me sick knowing where she would have ended up had we simply just not been present. She deserves to have her life back and to be someones amazing horse, she still has so much to give someone!
The two belgian babies are doing fine also. They both have the auction crud so will stay in quarantine for the next 30-45 days getting better. These sale barns wreak havoc on them it is so sad. It is always a mix of strangles and pneumonia, herpes etc. When they have never been exposed to bacteria and viruses like the sale barns and auctions have their immune systems get bombarded and compromised horribly.
Please just pray for my mental strength today. Please pray for the horses we cannot help. We will, however, come together to do everything we can for the ones we can today who dont stand a chance.
I am grateful to Moon Mountain, Happy Healing Hearts, Millys Place, Triple J, and a private party for all stepping up to take on some of the draft horses to fundraise for them. If you follow them on social media, THANK YOU. They are wonderful women fighting for these horses trying to give them their lives back and make a difference.
