Clint & Granite are those horses.

In August 2026, I arrived at the kill pen and saw two Belgian stallions standing there in horrifying condition.

I remember looking at them and thinking, Oh my God. These poor horses.

Their names would become Clint and Granite—and both of them deserved so much better.

Belgian draft horses are prized for their enormous strength. Many spend their lives working in Amish communities, pulling plows and operating as living tractors to help produce food. Stallions are also used to create the next generation of horses who will eventually follow in their footsteps.

They work. They breed. They give everything their bodies have to give.

Then, when they become worn down and can no longer do the job expected of them, far too many are discarded at auctions or sold directly into the slaughter pipeline.

They never truly get the opportunity to have a life of their own. They are valued for their size, their strength and what they can provide—until someone decides they have nothing left to give.

Our September Pin honors Clint and Granite as more than working animals and more than what almost happened to them.

It represents belonging. Love. Safety. A second chance. Most importantly, it represents a community willing to stand behind horses like them and remind the world that they deserve to be seen.

This quarter-sized pin depicts the two stallions running together, each carrying a small heart—a reminder that their lives have always mattered.
