Lola was only five years old when we saw her being loaded onto the semi truck immediately following the auction.

I remember standing there completely shocked.

She was stunning. The kind of horse you look at and immediately assume someone will step in for. I truly thought for sure they would at least try to place her online first.

Instead, they wasted no time.

They were already walking her onto the truck.

That moment says everything about how broken this pipeline really is. It does not matter how beautiful a horse is. It does not matter how young they are. It does not matter how much potential they still have left.

Sometimes they are discarded anyway.

I could not walk away from her.

We rescued Lola in November of 2024, and today she is safe at our California property as part of the RFR family alongside her sweet buddy, Datlas. The two of them have become incredibly bonded, and watching them together is a reminder of how resilient horses truly are when finally given safety and kindness.

Lola may be blind, but she does not let that stop her from living a beautiful, full, and happy life.

She navigates the world with trust, confidence, and heart. She has adapted in ways that are honestly inspiring to witness. Horses like Lola remind people that disabilities do not diminish worth, joy, or quality of life.

She deserved a chance.
